The more I shoot film (specifically with my Contax) the more I fall in love with it’s aspect ratio 6×4.5 commonly known as 645. For portraits it is just the perfect height not too tall not too wide and in landscape mode it is not so “cinematic” in nature more intimate but still with room to breathe. Now don’t get me wrong, I still love shooting with other cameras (like my Pentax 6×7 or my Hasselblad 500) but for me the look of the 645 aspect ratio is just so much more interesting. It’s what we see in magazines, books, and is the preferred format of most high end editorial photographers. If you ever get the chance, I highly encourage you to shoot with different cameras (large format, 6×6, 6×7, 35mm, and of course 6×4.5) anything that will help you to “see” differently, because when you do it will change the way you shoot for the better.
