I loved working with these two, not only are they adorable together but they are super into photos (my type of client). When Mary said she wanted to take me to the graffiti walls I had no idea of what to expect but she didn’t disappoint and that is one location that I’ll be going to again! I always love it when our couples come up with new locations that we’ve not been before because it always gets my creative juices flowing, I was like a kid in a candy shop! Here are a few of our favorites from the day as well as their engagement story in their own words!

“We moved to Richmond last summer after finishing our residencies in Albany, NY. We settled in to the loft apartments in downtown Richmond, excited about the industrial feel of our place and warmer weather! The first three months in Richmond were rough! Our jobs were demanding and hard to settle into, plus our schedules were not meshing. We finally had a day off together and decided to go for a walk, and maybe a run and explore some parts of Richmond. It was November 10th, the day of the Richmond Marathon. We strolled by the runners then made our way to Belle Isle. Alex pretended he didn’t know where he was going, we argued over which way to get to the bridge! In fact, he had scoped out the spot many times in the previous two weeks. It was a busy Saturday though, beautiful, 70 degree sunny day. We went the long way around the Island and stopped to explore the rocks. We sat in a “particular spot” that he had picked out (after urging a stranger to move!) and the next thing I knew, he was telling me how much he loved me. I was shocked! He had told me that he had to wait to propose until our parents met (which wasn’t until December) so I was totally caught off guard! After realizing it was for real, I eagerly said yes!”

Working with Bethany & Edward was a lot of fun & Ed reminds me of my brother in law so much it’s crazy! These two are such a fun loving & easy going couple that it really made it easy to work with them & It was so great to walk around the University of Richmond surrounded by gorgeous architecture on such a beautiful spring day. And despite the crowds of students and the near falls we walked away with some great engagement photos. Here are a few of my favorites as well as their engagement story in their own words.

“I would love to say we have a great story about how we met, but we really don’t know when we met! We have known each other for about 6 years or so….through River City Sports and Social Club football/kickball and hanging out with mutual friends. We became friends through that, and became even closer friends in the past few years. We started talking more often, making plans, and then decided to start dating. Very few of our friends knew (and those who did know were very good about keeping it quiet!) until we knew we wanted to be together. Many of our friends predicted we would end up together, so it really wasn’t a surprise to anyone! And now we are embarking on our new journey together. We look forward to a lifetime of happiness and are excited to have our family and friends in our lives celebrate with us!”

I loved working with Beth & Michael for their engagement photos, driving to Belle Isle for their photos we hit it on the first “real” day of spring and the weather was amazing. Of course this meant that there were plenty of others out as well but we made our way around them, even shooting in the bushes for part of it. But in the end I think the photos turned out wonderfully which is worth trekking through the brush. Here are a few of my favorites as well as their engagement story in their own words.

“At the end of July, we went to the island of St. Kitts for vacation. Michael planned a dinner on the beach for us on the first day of the trip. I knew about the dinner and therefore didn’t think that Michael was planning to propose. So, at sunset we walked down to the beach and were greeted by our servers. The main server was very talkative and was throwing off Michael’s plan as he kept chatting and wouldn’t leave us alone. Finally after bringing the appetizer, the server stepped away and Michael took the opportunity to propose. Of course, I started crying before he even got through the first sentence or down on his knee!”
