Richmond Wedding Photographers | Sunday Park | Sarah & Joseph’s Engaged!

I loved working with Sarah & Joseph last week they were so easy going and really into having a great time. We were lucky too, the weather cooperated for us to have a beer on the Sunday Park’s Deck and for us to get a beautiful sunset! I can’t wait for the wedding, these two are going to make for some great photos! Here are a few of my favorites from the shoot as well as their engagement story in their own words.

We traveled to Savanna, GA for a weekend to run the inaugural Rock N Roll Savannah half marathon. After running the race, we headed back to the hotel to get ready for a day of exploring the beautiful southern town. Before I opened the door to leave the room for the day, Joe said to me “Baby wait, I forgot I got you something…you don’t have to eat them though.” He handed me three bags of purple and yellow M&Ms – my favorite candy which I had given up for the duration of training and my two favorite colors! I looked at the candies and noticed there was a different writing on them. I read “Happily Ever After” and then “Will you…” I let out a very emphatic “WHAT!” and with tears in my eyes I turned to Joe. He was grinning from ear to ear then got down on his knee and asked me to marry him!

Ashburn Wedding Photographers | The Belmont Country Club | Jenney & Joe Married!!!

I loved working with Jenney & Joe for their wedding, this is such a cool grounded couple who truly belong together and it shows in all of their photos. The day was so beautiful, it really reminded me of my wedding. I had such a blast with you guys, thanks for letting me be a part of your day! Here are a few of my favorites!

WHERE IS YOUR WEDDING/RECEPTIONS AND WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS LOCATION?
Belmont Country Club for bother Ceremony & Reception. We choose this place because of its rustic, yet elegant beauty and charm.

WHAT WAS YOUR THEME OR STYLE AND WHY?
Romantic, whimsical, classic

WHERE DID YOU CHOOSE YOUR DRESS AND WHAT LEAD YOU TO THE ONE YOU CHOSE?
I went dress shopping with one of my close friends who is also getting married a few weeks before me, and found a shop that offers dresses in all sizes called “Curvy Girls Bridal”. I wanted sometime lacey, romantic, classy yet not too conservative. We picked out about 10 dresses, and the first dress I tried on was the one I ended up purchasing. I loved the swiss tulle and hand-beading.

DESCRIBE YOUR SHOES AND WHY YOU WENT WITH THEM?
I wasn’t sure what type of shoe to go with – similar to the girls (gold/champagne), or pop of blue, or classic white. I went looking for other shoes, when i found this pair of white heels, with a flower on the heels with beading that similar to beading on my dress. As soon as I saw them and tried them on, I knew they were the ones.

WHERE THERE ANY OTHER PIECES OF JEWELRY/ACCESSORIES FOR YOU, YOUR GROOM, BRIDESMAIDS OR GROOMSMEN THAT YOU DECIDED TO INCORPORATE?
I will be wearing the pearls that my mom gave me on 18th birthday. I bought the bridesmaids these beautiful pearl and gold necklaces and pearl earrings.

WHO IS DOING YOUR HAIR & MAKEUP AND WHAT IS THE LOOK YOU ARE GOING FOR?
My friend Danielle, who is a hair stylist, will be doing my hair and makeup. I’m going for a romantic look with the hair (long loose curls half-up), and more dramatic with the make-up with smoky eyes.

DID YOU HAVE ANY WEDDING FAVORS AND WHY DID YOU SELECT THEM?
Yes, we’ll be donating to the American Cancer Society, and having candy in bright colored tulle.

WHO DID YOUR FLOWERS AND WHAT WAS THE LOOK THAT YOU WANTED WITH THEM?
Joe’s mom will be creating the bouquets (ivory roses), and centerpieces (pink/peach roses)…we wanted a classic, yet elegant look and feel.

TELL ME ABOUT YOUR CAKE, WHO CREATED IT AND WHAT DID YOU DO TO MAKE IT UNIQUE
We chose a local bakery that came highly recommended. We picked out a simple, yet elegant cake in wedding colors (champagne/ivory/pink as pop of color) with fresh flowers.

WHAT DID YOU DO FOR FOOD & DRINK AND WHY?
We went with an all inclusive package because it was a lot of food / open bar, with one easy payment

WHERE ARE YOU GOING TO BE GO ON THE HONEYMOON & WHY?
Paris because we’ve always wanted to go together, and it’s such a romantic, beautiful city.

Joe is a lot of things: sincere, genuine, talented, driven, fun, silly, smart, lovable, patient, kind – the list goes on and on.  But, above all, he is my best-friend.  We get each other – I mean, he understands me better than anyone else I know, and I him.  He completes me (yes I just misquoted from the movie “Jerry McGuire”…but, it’s true).

Jenney is the most supportive person I know, and she makes me feel like I can accomplish anything.  She has a big-heart and always puts others’ needs first.  I also love how she laughs at her own jokes, even when they’re not funny – plus, she’s a good kisser!

Richmond Wedding Photographers | The University of Richmond | Kelly & Andrew Engaged!

It was so great to work with Kelly & Andrew for their engagement at The University of Richmond. Can you believe they drove all the way from the Carolinas for the shoot! I’m so glad that they did though because we got some amazing photos of the two of them! Here are some of my favorites as well as their engagement story in their own words!

A day after taking my nursing board exam, Drew gave me directions to a place in Charlottesville where I was to leave my car. He met me there and we drove to New Market, VA, in the George Washington National Forest. Once there, Drew took me on a hike. I knew something was up when he was so intent on finding these particular vistas that he had read about (and left me far behind as he searched for them). We finally got to the top and found the spot he was looking for. It was gorgeous, and a beautiful, sunny day! After we took it in a for a few minutes, Drew proposed! We then followed it up with lunch that we had brought with us, before going back down the trail. From there, Drew still wouldn’t tell me what the plans were for the rest of the day. We went to an ice cream/custard place and had the best mint chocolate chop custard! Then, after calling family and friends, we made our way to the Milton Inn. That evening, we went to a delicious dinner in downtown Charlottesville! The following day, we headed to Lynchburg to visit my parents and celebrate with them. It was an awesome few days, very exciting!! Drew came up with an incredible, thoughtful plan, and the experience was a great reflection of who we are and what we enjoy doing.
