Sarabeth & Jamie’s Engagement Portraits

It was so awesome to meet up with this great looking couple again, I had such a blast walking all around Maymont and taking these photos even though it was freezing!

Here is their story in their own words:
This past November, Jamie planned a drive down to the Blue Ridge Mountain area for a bit of a day off. As we drove around the scenic national park overlooking the mountains, stopping at various spots to take photos, I noticed that Jamie was very insistent that I not go into the backpack he had packed with snacks and such. But I shrugged it off, assuming he was just being weird.

At one stop, Jamie didn’t get out of the car – but instead turned to me to tell me how thankful he was for me (this was right after Thanksgiving). I agreed, saying that I was thankful for him too, and got out of the car to take some photos. Jamie came over and put his arm around me as we looked out over the mountains, and continued to say how much he loved me and looked forward to spending the rest of his life with me. I agreed, probably saying something like, “Yep! Me too.” Again, I noticed he was acting strange and more sentimental than usual but I just blew it off. Finally, Jamie said, “So…I brought you up here today to ask you to marry me.”

At that point, I turned to look at him to check if he was joking (and maybe to see if he had a special box), and started bawling when I realized what was happening. Of course, I said yes!

As we were out in a remote area, neither of us had cell coverage for a couple of hours, leaving us to relish in the moment a bit longer on our own – until I called my family and cried some more.

There was no down-on-one-knee moment, but it was a sweet surprise that I had been waiting for!

Sara & Eric’s Engagement Portraits

I had such a great time walking around downtown Richmond VA to photograph this couples engagement. They are such a great couple and are really excited to be married. Here is their engagement story in their own words:

Originally, Eric had planned to propose in late December; then in October he started acting suspicious about a package he was receiving. It alternated between a “christmas present” and “something from work”, but either way I was not allowed to touch it when it arrived. When my birthday came around in November, we’d been planning to eat at a local place, but Eric suggested we upgrade our plans to the Charthouse in Old Town Alexandria (an awesome restaurant where we’d had one of our first dates). We stopped to pick up the suspicious package on the way.
After dinner Eric asked if I’d gotten everything I wanted (“of course, I’ve got you!”) and suddenly handed me something and said to hold it while he tied his shoe. (Apparently it’s hard to find a sneaky reason to get onto one knee…) Once we got through the asking-and-saying-yes part, we got our first congratulations from a group of tipsy girls walking along the dock. =)
