I had such a great time shooting with Kristin and Jimmy this afternoon, a great couple who really reminded me of myself and my fiance. We walked all around downtown until the sun had finally set. I had such a great time hunting for the light with this couple & their engagement story is so great.
Here it is in her words:
“We got engaged April 1st…this was Jimmy’s 30th birthday. First some background. Back in October we went to Maymont and Jimmy, being the nerd he is, took a picture of us using the self-timer in a gazebo. We really liked the picture and have it on our mantle in the living room. We had been talking about how we wanted to get married and that getting engaged is something we could see happening within the next few months, maybe by the end of the summer. Of course, I was hoping for it any day! We would joke around about it a lot. One morning a few weeks before we got engaged, Jimmy told me he had a dream about it. He said that he was in the grocery store holding a bag of M&Ms and a lady came up to him. She said “You must be getting ready to propose. Everyone buys M&Ms before they propose!” That became the running joke, everytime we went to the store I would ask Jimmy if we needed any candy. When it came time to celebrate Jimmy’s birthday, I told him we could do whatever he wanted that day. It was a Wednesday so he was coming home from work early and the rest of the day would be ours. Since we were doing whatever he chose, he told me he wanted to go to Maymont to see the Bald eagle exhibit. This was totally something that he would ask for so I never thought anything of it. The sky was super cloudy and looked like rain could happen any minute. I had been making him a cake and getting dinner ready all morning so I hadn’t showered and had cake frosting on my shirt….just looked like a mess. He insisted that we had to get to the park before the rain so he dragged me to Maymont anyway. As we are walking to the exhibit he mentioned the gazebo where our picture was taken. I said I wouldn’t take another picture because I looked terrible but we could go by there just to see it. As we are standing in the gazebo he started being really sweet and told me that he got me something for his birthday….then he pulled out a bag of M&Ms. I knew what was happening at this point, we both started crying and he got down on one knee and pulled out the ring:) He said he proposed on his birthday because he thought it as the one day that I would not possibly expect, after all it was his day. I love our story, it is so us and perfect! I couldn’t have hoped for anything better!”
