Richmond Wedding Photographer GTG

Every once in a while we photographers come out from our editing room to get together for some good food, great conversations, and some laughs. Here we usually get a chance to exchange ideas and theories about where the field of wedding photography is going and how to deliver a better service and experience to our clients. We talk about albums, cameras, and lighting. It is always great to connect with other artists in the area and gleam inspiration and insight from one another. This month we were in Champs at Stony Point Fashion Park, and we will be the next time (February 25th). It is always an open invitation to all who want to connect with other professionals in the area and is totally free. In attendance this month were Pictures by Paige, Bob Schnell Photography, Tisha McCuiston, Photos by Vera, Nick Kessler Photography, Stephanie Mosher Photography, and of course yours truly If you are interested don’t hesitate to drop me a line, and I’ll make sure to keep you in the loop! Here are some of the pics from the event provided by Nick Kessler Photography. Why he brought a fisheye I still don’t know but it made for some funny pics:

Spoiled Rotten!

On the way back from a holiday party in the VA beach area I hit a dear, the resulting damage mandated taking the car into the shop to be repaired (thank goodness for insurance, but deductibles suck). The rental company came and picked me up from the body shop and took me to their office for me to pick out a car. After all of the paper work was done they asked me which car I wanted to have, I was about to go for a nice SUV when this beauty caught my eye.

For a split second in my head there was the scene in get smart where Maxwell Smart was trying to convince agent 99 that it would be a great idea to drive a Ferrari into Moscow. Well only it was two sides of my mind debating, it didn’t take long for me to choose the car and for five days it would be all mine.

Now, I am absolutely heart broken after having to drop off this car back at the rental company. It was probably the sweetest car that I’ve ever driven and now it is gone! Don’t get me wrong, I love my VW but there was just something so intoxicating about this car. To me this car was a truly beautiful piece of engineering and though I only had it for 5 days I made sure to throughly enjoy it. Kristy and I were wondering if they would let us trade in both our cars for that one, they said no.

Richmond Bridal Showcase 09!

Ahhh Bridal shows, never a dull experience. Especially this one which is put on my Marc McIntosh from Richmond Bridal Showcase Our preparation began the day before when we realized that none of the items that we were going to bring to the show were going to fit in our cars! So we found a U-haul to rent, & after staying up all until around 2am prepping the stuff we decided it was time for a 5hr nap.

The next morning we woke up really early and drove a u-haul full of stuff down 76 and through all of the tolls. I swear the van we were driving had absolutely no shock absorbers because with every bump it felt like the entire van lifted up about a half a foot! Once we got there we drove around to the loading area where we only had 20 minutes to get everything out of our van and into the building, a drastic improvement from our decision to make several trips from the parking lot to the show room the year before (an experience Kristy will never let me forget).

Once we had everything set up we were ready or at least we thought we were. In fine form murphey’s law came to pass and our 42″ LCD display wouldn’t be showing our slide shows because our Apple tv was malfunctioning (a problem that actually happened to a couple vendors). Heart broken, we pushed on hoping that if nothing else our display, comfortable seats, and chocolate would entice brides in. The brides were very overwhelmed and had much to see that they didn’t have time to come in and sit down for long, and they were so full from all of the food that the caterers brought that they couldn’t fit any of our chocolate (a detail Kristy and I didn’t mind too much as it left more for us). Yet after a long day of going over prices, talking about our style and why we’re different from everyone else we were able to meet a lot of really nice brides and vendors.
